WHAT: In this session of Make it Monday, Activities You Can Do at Home, Director of Experience, you will learn how to make your own Victorian Valentine with some common household items. Registration for this session includes a kit containing lace, cardstock, and Victorian Valentine designs. From home you will need glue, scissors, a pen or pencil, and any other decorating supplies you would like to use!

WHAT: Students are introduced to artist Jim Dine's beautiful abstract hearts and and then create their own Valentine's Day Masterpiece. Students work in the medium of their choice or pay for supplies and choose what is available at EEA. A 12 x 12 canvas is recommended with acrylic paint. Students are able to take artworks home or donate your work to be delivered to Peconic Landing residents! Spread the love! Show everyone what the heart really represents!

WHAT: Enjoy a Valentine’s Day Scavenger hunt, by “looking for love” in Southampton! All throughout Main Street in Southampton Village there will be red hearts that need to be sought out. Grab a friend or a partner and embark on a journey of love! First prize and a gift for those who return a completed list.

WHAT: Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the Southampton Trails Preservation Society. Meet at Elliston Park off Millstone Brook Road in Southampton. Enjoy a moderately paced 3 mile hike with views of Big Fresh Pond and Wolf Swamp. Visit the historic cemetery which is part of this park and hear the story of Emma Rose Elliston who was born on a whaling ship off Hawaii. 
WANT TO GO? RSVP by February 13 at 12pm. While this event is free, donations to the Southampton Trails Preservation Society are encouraged.

WHEN: February 14, 2-3:30pm
WHERE: Old Field Preserve, Mead Street, Waccabuc
WHAT: Celebrate your love of the outdoors with your family this Valentine’s Day with a guided hike at Old Field Preserve in Waccabuc! This short, moderate-level hike will follow the Educational Nature Trail that winds through five different habitats and seven reclaimed fields, illustrating the vast ecological diversity of Old Field Preserve. LLT board member Shantala DuGay-Iyengar and her son will be your guides. Sturdy shoes are recommended, and traction cleats may be helpful for icy conditions. Friendly dogs on leash are welcome. Steady rain or snow cancels.

WHAT: Children will use pointillism, which is a painting technique that uses tiny dots, in the negative space around a heart to create an abstract modern masterpiece on canvas- just in time for Valentine’s Day!

WHAT: Join the Teaneck Creek Conservancy Kid’s Craft and Bird Walk event featuring Bergen County Audubon Society. Enjoy a short guided nature walk through the forested wetland habitat of Teaneck Creek Conservancy while searching for bird species including Dark-eyed Juncos, Northern Cardinals, and Downy Woodpeckers. Afterwards send a Valentine to the birds with a kid-friendly bird seed craft. Wear your mask and bring along a pen and paper to keep your bird count.
