Indoor Play Spaces in the New York Area

Here's our guide to indoor play spaces, bounce houses, and sports centers in the New York area complete with their adjusted hours and COVID-19 precautions.

UPDATED DECEMBER 2020: If you're considering taking your kids to one of New York's many indoor play spaces, bounce houses, and sports centers to get the sillies out this winter, make sure you use our guide before leaving the house. The indoor play spaces that are open are doing everything they can to keep your kids safe while having fun.  While many of these spaces normally offer open play with no reservations required, we recommend calling ahead to make sure there is availability with the capacity limits resulting from COVID-19. 

Indoor Play Spaces in Manhattan

Apple Seeds - Currently closed.
10 W. 25th St., Chelsea
6 Stuyvesant Oval, Stuyvesant Town
Apple Seeds is a family-operated play center with two locations in Manhattan. The play center boasts a sports playground with basketball nets, soft gym equipment, and nine permanent NYC-themed exhibits to ensure safe, age-appropriate activities for ages newborn to 5 years.

The Art Farm
431 E. 91st St., Upper East Side
What you need to know: Are you a family of animal lovers? If so, be sure to head over to The Art Farm, a unique indoor petting zoo. Kids will be able to get close to all sorts of animals—including guinea pigs, lizards, turtles, and bunnies—learn about them, and have fun while doing it. The Art Farm also offers music, cooking, and art programs for children ages 6 months to 8 years, as well as in-person and virtual preschool.

Billy Beez - Temporarily closed.
200 Baychester Ave., Unit 313-316, Bronx
Billy Beez is a fantastic indoor adventure playground where your children can play safely and securely whatever the weather. The 25,000-square-foot play area complete with wave slides, obstacle courses, and more, will ensure that all their energy will be used up at the arena and not at home.

Chelsea Piers - Programs currently unavailable.
62 Chelsea Piers, Chelsea
Drop-in activities are available for children of all ages, including a Toddler Gym with open play equipment for ages 4 and younger; open hockey, soccer, rock climbing, basketball, and ice-skating; and a class for preschoolers called CP Champs with activities including gymnastics, trampoline, and foam pit play.

The Gaga Center - Temporarily closed.
230 E. 93rd St., Upper East Side
Gaga is a fast-paced, high-energy sport played in an octagonal pit. Dubbed a kinder, gentler version of dodgeball, the game is played with a soft foam ball and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running, and jumping, while trying to hit opponents with a ball below the knees. Open gaga sessions are here when you need them: holidays, conference days, days off, snow days, and other “what should we do today” days! Sessions are 1 hour.

The Playroom NYC
1439 First Ave., Upper East Side
What you need to know: Upon arrival you’ll have your temperature taken and will fill out a healthcare questionnaire. Only 10 kids and one adult allowed per open play slot. Masks required. The Playroom will close in between open play slots for 30-minute intervals to sanitize the space. See the full list of COVID-19 precautions on the Playroom NYC’s website. The space features an indoor climbing structure, a toddler room, and a pretend play area. Kids 5 and younger are welcome.

Indoor Play Spaces in Brooklyn

BounceU of Brooklyn
6722 Fort Hamilton Parkway, 2nd Floor, Bay Ridge
Kids will love the numerous inflatables, while parents will love the early weekend hours. It also offers a Cosmic Open Bounce when kids can jump around in the dark. It’s a great way to burn off some much needed steam. Reservations are recommended.

Juguemos a Cantar
323 5th Ave., Park Slope
What to Know: Children and staff are required to wear masks at all times. Groups do outdoor activities as often as possible. Staff are tested for COVID-19 on a biweekly basis. See website for a full description of Juguemos a Cantar’s COVID-19 protocol.
Jueguemos a Cantar is a great place for budding bilinguists to learn and play in Spanish. Offers camp and after-school programs, as well as other services such as virtual classes.

Kids N’ Action
1149 McDonald Ave., Midwood
What to Know: Masks and social distancing required. Surfaces are wiped down after each use. Arcade games get wiped down every 20 minutes, and the ventilation system has been upgraded. Call for the full COVID-19 protocols.
Drop by to play in the four-level playground, with activities geared toward younger kids at the lower level and older kids at the higher levels. There are also arcade games, a go-kart track, and an indoor roller coaster.

PLAY Greenpoint
33 Nassau Ave., Greenpoint
This place has it all. The 3,000-square-foot space is full of imaginative toys, musical instruments, and books. Not to mention the playground structures and beautiful murals, which give the feeling of being outdoors. Drop-ins cost $22 for one child and $11 for additional siblings.

Prospect Gymnastics
1023 Church Ave., Ditmas Park
Prospect Gymnastics is a developmental gymnastics program for children. Kids can walk on the balance beam, tumble, swing on the uneven bars, and bounce on the trampoline during open play sessions. They’ll feel like they scored a perfect 10! Birthday parties are offered.

Recess DUMBO
81 Washington St., Dumbo
What to Know: Recess DUMBO is offering limited capacity pla, private play dates, learning pods, and birthday parties. Temperature checks will be performed upon arrival. Guests are not permitted to eat at Recess right now.
Recess is a unique play space that offers flexible hours. Its custom-made play structures are designed for curious minds and busy bodies to explore.

Twinkle Play Space - Temporarily closed.
144 Frost St., Williamsburg
Twinkle is a family-owned and -operated indoor play space. The 4,500-square-foot facility has innovative custom-made exhibits to cater to any child’s wildest imagination. The space is designed for kids ages 6 and younger.

Indoor Play Spaces in Queens

Artistic Stitch Sports Complex
79-08 Cooper Ave., Glendale
What you need to know: No spectators allowed. Masks must be worn when not on the court. See website for Artistic Stitch’s full COVID-19 protocol.
This sports complex offers drop-ins for older kids who want to spend the day playing sports. They can choose from baseball, soccer, basketball, and rock climbing.

Good Day Play Café - Temporarily closed.
208-03 35th Ave., Bayside
Part play space and part café, you can relax with a cup of Stumptown coffee, fresh juice, or finger foods while your child plays on an angled climbing wall, a ball pit, matted area with sensory toys, and a Hinoki cypress wood cube pit.

Dream City
108-48 Queens Blvd., Forest Hills
What you need to know: Masks must be worn at all times for adults and kids ages 2 and older. Dream City is currently providing support for online learning, and is open for open play or parties on the weekends, with cluster restrictions. Dream City opened recently in Forest Hills and offers open play, classes, special events and parties. It aims to create a fun and safe learning environment that sparks curiosity while encouraging social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.

Kids Fun House - Temporarily closed.
6273 Fresh Pond Road, Ridgewood
Kids Fun House is family-owned and -operated and has an awesome “triple slide,” as well as mazes and tunnels for kids to explore. There is also a separate toddler area for younger children.

Kids 'N Shape - Not offering play at this time.
162-26 Cross Bay Blvd., Howard Beach
What to Know: For birthday parties and private play sessions, guests are required to wear masks at all times, a limited number of guests are permitted, and temperature checks will be performed.
The open play sessions at Kids ‘N Shape feature an exclusive variety of interactive fitness attractions designed to improve your children’s motor skills and engage them in physical activity. Its uniquely unstructured open play is a healthy alternative to video games while providing a safe, clean, and supervised environment. Two-hour fitness play open sessions cost $12 per child.

Raising Astoria - Temporarily closed.
26-11 23rd Ave., Astoria
Raising Astoria is a local favorite and the facility is a great space for open play. The staff at Raising Astoria encourages kids to run, jump, and play. Activities are designed to engage and educate children.  

Sabrina’s Play Studio - Temporarily closed.
52-07 Queens Blvd., Woodside
Great for younger kids with tons of toys for imaginative play, music and story time, and special events.

A-Game Sports
856 Main St., New Rochelle
What to Know: Masks, temperature checks, and social distancing required. The facility is disinfected every night, the ventilation system has been upgraded, and sessions are held at limited capacity. See website for full COVID-19 protocols.
An instructional and recreational youth sports facility, it offers camps, lessons, and customized programs for more than 10 sports.

BounceU of Elmsford

What to Know: Staff will be wearing masks and customers are encouraged to wear them as well. BounceU has limited customer capacity and installed several barriers to keep people distanced. Let your little ones blow off some steam in a safe and controlled play area. BounceU is crammed full of slides, obstacle courses, and toys to keep kids entertained for hours. The huge inflatables are suitable for ages 2 and older.

14 Waterfront Place, Port Chester
Let your child’s imagination run free at the PlayQuad: a large, multi-level jungle gym set in a 2,000-square-foot indoor play center. It features slides, swings, tunnels, and more to keep youngsters occupied and happy for hours. PlayQuad in Port Chester requires enrollment in a class.

Life The Place to Be
2 Lawrence St., Ardsley
Life The Place to Be really is the place to be. The state-of-the-art indoor play area has everything from a mini-bowling center and rock climbing to laser tag and arcade games. Parents can relax close by with drinks at the bar or dine on food at the café. Life is currently open for parties and private events that comply with COVID-19 guidelines.

Play at The Westchester - Currently closed
125 Westchester Ave., White Plains
Located at The Westchester mall, the play area is a free activity center that offers families an appealing break while shopping.

Rockin’ Jump - Temporarily closed
333 N. Bedford Road, Mount Kisco
Rockin’ Jump is an unbelievably fun trampoline park that has plenty to do for kids and adults. You don’t need any athletic experience to have fun—just an open mind and a little energy to burn. Attractions include Open Jump Arena, which is the main jump and fun zone; Slam Dunk Zone, an area dedicated to trampoline basketball; Foam Pit, a dodgeball area; and rock wall.

Sky Zone Trampoline Park - Temporarily closed
33 Lecount Place, New Rochelle
Come in for open jump every day and reserve a 1-hour or 2-hour time slot with access to jump into the Foam Zone and games such as Ultimate dodgeball, Sky Slam, and Sky Joust. See website for times.

Sportime USA

Head on over to Sportime USA for indoor fun! With laser tag, a rock-climbing wall, arcade games, and bumper cars, this amusement center has something for everyone. A guaranteed great day for the entire family whatever the weather!

Bounce! offers the opportunity to play sports, have fun, and get fit on 10,000 square feet of interconnected trampolines. The facility offers open jump time, trampoline dodgeball, slam dunk basketball, and foam pit jumping.

BounceU of Nanuet - Permanently closed.

Joseph Lawrence Community Sports Center

Joseph Lawrence Community Sports Center offers indoor running track, cardio equipment, and racquetball and multi-sport courts. This facility has become a firm favorite with residents in and around the Rockland area.

Palisades Climb Adventure
4590 Palisades Center Drive, West Nyack
What to Know: Masks and temperature checks required. Maximum capacity is 25 guests. Courses are closed every hour for disinfecting.
Palisades Climb Adventure boasts that it is the world’s tallest indoor ropes course, standing 85 feet tall, and featuring five levels with 75 unique challenge elements including the Sky Tykes kids’ ropes course, designed for children shorter than 48 inches.

Screamin’ Parties - Temporarily closed.
111 Rockland Plaza, Nanuet
Bring in the kids for open play to get some energy out at this facility. It has state-of-the-art inflatables and giant slides. Open play times change each week so be sure to call or check the website.

West Rock Indoor Sports & Entertainment Complex
21 Pralle Lane, Nanuet
What to Know: Social distancing and small group guidelines enforced. Call for full COVID-19 protocols.
Along with sports clinics and birthday parties, the space offers open play during school recesses with weekly camp tournaments, relay races, and sports, including tennis, and soccer.

Long Island Children's Museum
11 Davis Ave., Garden City
What to Know: Masks are required for everyone 2 and older, and temperature checks will be performed upon arrival. The museum’s HVAC system has been upgraded for improved ventilation. See website for full COVID-19 protocols.
Admission to the museum includes the indoor play areas, Tot Spot and Climb It. At Tot Spot, kids can play pretend in the train, grocery store, or construction site. Meanwhile, kids can ascend the two-story climbing sculpture that is Climb It.

Long Island’s Laser Bounce - Temporarily closed.
2710 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown
Toddlers to tweens will enjoy this indoor play area. There are rooms filled with bouncers, a big ball-filled climbing area with ball cannons, a laser-tag arena, and a full-size game arcade. Open play times are available on the website.

Once Upon a Treetop
151 Dupont St., Plainview
What to Know: Social distancing required; the facility is disinfected more frequently. Call for full COVID-19 protocols.
Let your imagination run wild at this pretend play space, which offers open play and special events. Admission is $16 for walkers and $12 for crawlers. Check website for open play  times. Check website for which sessions are available right now, as offerings have changed due to coronavirus.

Pump It Up

This bouncy center franchise offers Pop-in Playtimes as well as bounce-and-art camps and structured play classes. With so many open play sessions, there’s sure to be one that’s a perfect fit for your family. Check the website for days and times.

Wood Kingdom - No parties or open play until further notice.
111 Milbar Blvd., Farmingdale
Wood Kingdom is a huge indoor and outdoor yard-play and gardening store at which children can play on showroom samples. It also has rooms with inflatable bouncers and laser-tag areas down the block. Open play is Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm.

Indoor Play Spaces in Suffolk County

Air Trampoline - Temporarily closed.
1850 Lakeland Ave., Ronkonkoma
Kids can jump on trampolines and play dodgeball and basketball slam dunk games, or dive into the foam pit. Open Jump times can be reserved by purchasing tickets online for either 1-, 1½-, or 2-hour play times. Adults and/or legal guardians must sign an online liability waiver before their children can participate, and must purchase Air Grip Socks for safety and hygiene precautions.

@Play Amusements
229 Broadhollow Road, Farmingdale
What to Know: Masks and social distancing required. Parties will be limited capacity. Timed play spots are good for avoiding crowds. See website for full COVID-19 protocols.
Featuring laser tag, bumper cars, arcade games, inflatables, and an indoor roller coaster, reserve packages for unlimited play for access to all attractions. The facility offers a new event space. Party packages are slightly different due to coronavirus restrictions.

Lazerland of Long Island - Temporarily closed.

Play laser tag, dodgeball on the indoor courts, and arcade games during Lazerland’s open play sessions. Call ahead to find out the days and times of open play, as they are based on the private event schedule.

Safari Adventure - Temporarily closed.
1074 Pulaski St., Riverhead
Open Play features a four-level, 20-foot-tall soft playground, giant bouncy houses, climbing, slides, a hands-on sensory area, and more than 30 video games for children ages 1-10. The activity center has a trading post for kids to trade in tickets from the games for prizes. Open Play is offered every day from 10am-7pm.

Sandbox Playspace - Temporarily closed.
51 Gibson Ave., Huntington
Handcrafted toys will be available for kids to play with Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm, and Saturday, 10am-1pm, for drop-in playtime. Adults and children must wear socks in the predominantly wooden play space. It's recommended for ages 5 and younger.

StrikeForce Sports
125 Broadhollow Road, Farmingdale
What to Know: Masks and social distancing required. Capacity has been limited. Temperature will be taken upon arrival. Please sign your waiver electronically and ahead of time. See website for full COVID-19 protocols.
Kids ages 10 and older can play airsoft indoors during one of StrikeForce Sport’s public sessions, available every week. These range from 4-5 hours long. The indoor arena has large overhead lights, a surround sound system for music, and realistic sound effects during the games.

Tumbling Tunes
212 Laurel Road, East Northport
What to Know: Temperature checks and masks required, except for kids who are actively participating in certain activities. See website for full COVID-19 protocols. While Open Play is not offered at this time, children can participate in classes, preschool, and summer camps. Some classes offered include gymnastics for kids ages 5-8, music for babies, and music and gymnastics for toddlers.
