For families who have had the frustrating experience of dealing with head lice issues, now there is a safe, effective, non-toxic solution to this vexing problem. Meticulice – Long Island’s finest, certified head lice removal company — has just opened its boutique, centrally located at 196 Belle Meade Road, Suite 7A, in East Setauket. Comprehensive services include head lice screening and removal as well as educational seminars and group screenings. Elissa Rand, who has successfully run Cleaned to Perfection, a Suffolk County residential and commercial cleaning service, for the past 10 years, announced the boutique’s opening, explaining: “Meticulice was born following my family’s own experience with head lice. One afternoon, my daughter came home from camp with head lice and later I discovered that I had them too! It was frightening, and we wanted to rid ourselves of this problem immediately, but the information available about combating it was confusing and sometimes contradictory. Even our family physician had no one to refer us to for help. “Using the conventional methods and products didn’t work,” she went on. “Frustrated, I decided to travel some distance to a Shepherd Method™ service and found the support and education our family needed. I learned that the problem of head lice is growing – that between 6 and 12 million school children per year will get head lice – but there were steps we could take to prevent another infestation. And then I thought: our area of Suffolk County badly needs a service that would not only help individual families by ridding them of lice with proven methods and non-toxic products, but could also conduct low-cost screenings and educate school organizations, day care centers, camps and parent groups about head lice.” Rand went through a rigorous training course at the Shepherd Institute for Lice Solutions and became certified so that she could start that service, Meticulice. Treatment is done carefully and methodically, using a strand-by-strand nit removal process and it uses safe, highly effective non-toxic products. Although the service includes a follow-up screening, clients generally are nit-free following one treatment, she said. “Cleaned to Perfection has built its reputation on providing outstanding service and maintaining prompt, clear communications with its customers,” said Rand. “And our clients can count on the same level of professional service at Meticulice.” To learn more about screening, head lice removal or to arrange a seminar for a parent group or school, call 631-786-4607 or email meticulice@gmail.com
