The Top 8 Kids’ Splash Pads & Water Playgrounds in Rockland County & Bergen County

The Top 8 Kids’ Splash Pads & Water Playgrounds in Rockland County & Bergen County

We’ve rounded up our favorite sprinkler parks and splash pads for kids in Rockland County, NY, and Bergen County, NJ—perfect spots to cool off on a hot day!

When your kids want the fun of a playground in the heat of the summer, a water playground can be an ideal solution. With water jetting on them as they splash with friends, a day at the local kids splash pad is a great way to spend a summer day close to home. Unlike water parks where you may have to travel for miles, sprinkler parks can be practically right in your own backyard. Here are some great water playgrounds around Rockland and Bergen counties. Just make sure to also stay hydrated and slather on the sunscreen all summer long.

Water Playgrounds in Rockland County

1. Rockland Lake State Park

299 Rockland Lake Rd, Valley Cottage

The park offers a new water complex that’s home to a 25,000-square-foot zero entrance swimming pool with diving boards, a spray ground, and two large water slides. If that isn’t enough to entertain kids, a playground geared for the 12 and younger set is at the picnic area in parking lot 2. The park also has a boat launch dock, hiking trails with Hudson Valley views, six tennis courts, and two 18-hole golf courses.

2. Memorial Park

51 Piermont Ave., Nyack

For kids in the Nyack vicinity who would like to cool off, the tall shower-like sprinklers in Memorial Park offer refreshing fun. This is alongside a playground with tall slides for fun, a climbing wall and also a climbing net. There’s also a skateboard park, baseball, basketball and a grassy field with a pavilion here. Great views of the Hudson for all here.

3. Spook Rock Pool

171 Spook Rock Road, Suffern

Spend the day at the pool located within the confines of Montebello. The interactive splash pad with fountains, sprays, jets, and other special features is next to the swimming pool here. In fact, you’ll find more than 25 different interactive elements at this splash pad.

4. Pascack Community Center

87 New Clarkstown Road, Nanuet

There’s a spray park here with a “car wash,” as well as flowers and candy canes all jetting out water for kids to cool off and refresh themselves in the summer heat. This is, however, just for Clarkstown residents with their town ID. If you’re a local, it’s a great place to enjoy splash pad fun. Don’t forget the towels.

Water Playgrounds in Bergen County, NJ

1. Walter Lubbe Jr. Playground

New Bridge Road, Bergenfield

This large sprinkler park houses rings that spray kids as they run through them. At the playground, kids can enjoy slides and seesaws. You’ll find climbing structures, a climbing wall, leaf-shaped steps, and monkey bars.

2. Carver Park

294 Second Street, Hackensack

This spray ground is small but mighty. Kids can run through water-spraying rainbow rings and stomp on the in-ground geysers. They’ll get drenched by monkey and frog water dispensers that kids can point at friends, siblings, or even their parents.

3. Van Saun Park

216 Fort Avenue, Paramus

The splash pad at Van Saun Park has an ADA-accessible water sprinkler with water creatures, large lily pads, and gentle cattail misters. It’s big enough to be fun but not too large to be overwhelming. Kids can jump up and down in areas where water gathers. Kids can dry off in the sun as they run around the adjacent playground.

4. Jewell Street Playground

Jewell Street Park, Jewell Street and Lanza Avenue, Garfield

The sprinkler park is only for Garfield residents. Get wet at the water-dumping buckets, sprinklers’ arc and a face that emits water. The playground has tall slides, playthings like a musical center, and climbing gear such as a fireman’s pole and mushroom caps.
